About This Lesson
This is an activity I use before I teach about the Industrial Revolution and after I teach about what "supply" and "demand" mean. This handout is about cloth and steel. Students must brainstorm what types of factors could cause an increase or decrease in the SUPPLY of each commodity and an increase or decrease in DEMAND for each commodities. After deciding on a factor, they then explain how this would impact the price. For instance, more farmers growing cotton = increase in supply of cloth. Colder weather = increase in demand for cloth. More buildings = increase in demand for steel.
