About This Lesson

A Smart board file that can be easily adapted for different learning goals. Children can help Minnie Meerkat sort the number vests ready for the sports contest. Put them in order; count up in twos or find the missing numbers etc. There's also a pdf with a couple of handouts and number vests to cut out and use. Files feature characters from the rhyming picture book 'The Champion Hare'. Aligned with Common Core State Standards: K.CC.2, K.CC.5 Counting and Cardinality.

Standards

Count forward beginning from a given number within the known sequence (instead of having to begin at 1).
Count to answer “how many?” questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1–20, count out that many objects.

This activity is great for the primary grade level. I know this would be highly utilized in the SPED classrooms as well.

Lovely interactive resource for ordering numbers and practising simple sequences. Pdf file has some great extra ideas and resources.
