Chalk Talk: Polymers

About This Lesson

The word polymer literally means "many parts," but a polymer isn’t a specific thing. It’s anything--usually a molecule or material--made of smaller, repeating bits. Polymers are large molecules formed by linking together smaller, repeating units called monomers. Provided by the National Science Foundation.
