Share My Lesson Partners with Rochester, NY,
Gets Serious about Reading

With a desire to improve children’s literacy and encourage summer reading, the Rochester City School District purchased 100,000 new books for K-11 students’ home libraries in the largest book distribution effort yet between a school district, the American Federation of Teachers and First Book.

Share My Lesson's partnership with Rochester includes online lesson plans for many of the books distributed as well as other activities to help local teachers, school staff, parents, and community members engage Rochester's youth.

The lessons that I download from are lessons that are clearly written and have strong graphics. The visuals are another inroad for my students who may not completely comprehend written instructions. These lessons, which I use on a Smart Board, allow students to come up to the board and share their thinking.
